Discipline Breeds Morale

Many years ago, one of my managers spent time teaching the principle that discipline breeds morale. It was a somewhat hard concept for me to grasp at first. As a rather laid back manager, I had no idea how discipline could possibly create a better work environment.

The more I started to listen and analyze what he was saying, the more it made sense. Employees who are held to the same standards are more likely to feel respected and appreciated in their jobs. There is nothing worse than seeing the animosity an employee can have if one of their co-workers is constantly “getting away with stuff”.

Customers are the same way. If you run a nightclub where some patrons are given special leeway without just cause (think free drinks, bypassed entrance fees, etc) that same animosity can brew up. Unlike an employee who might wait it out, your customers will go to another nightclub that they can feel appreciated in.

This can especially hold true when the customers are paying heavily for an expensive bottle service. When you use bottle locks, stay consistent with it. You them for every bottle service, every time.  This way no one feels like he or she is being jilted or not trusted compared to another table.

Even though it might feel like a hassle to use them, especially with a regular customer that constantly exhibits good judgment, it is better to not let the rules slack.

Create a Raving Customer

When you run a nightclub that has a bottle service one of the biggest ways to stand out above the crowd is to find a way to give unique and personal service to that group of patrons. When every other nightclub in town is providing bottle services as well, you need to be able to give your customers something that they can rave about.

Business management books and lectures will rant and rave about how much individualized attention can build sales, build the pipeline of referrals to increase your sales. One of the ways to help your bottle services stand out from the rest is to use bottle locks.

Bottle locks are little bottle caps that fit over the mouth of a liquor bottle, sealing in its contents. When you force your wait staff to be extra diligent in refilling drinks because your patrons do not have the access to them, you create a unique opportunity.

This is a chance for your host or wait staff to make a huge impact. Their personality and spark can compliment what should be an already special service. They can suggest additional complimenting sales items with prompt attention to the patrons needs. It promotes that VIP level of service by having someone cater to them.

It’s one thing to hand over a bottle of liquor, a few mixers and a table and let the group have at it. It’s a completely different experience to have a personal host serve you and your friends for a night out. It gives them something to rave about.

Be Prepared For the Holiday Weekend

Do you know how to protect yourself this Memorial Day weekend? How about your nightclub customers? While you never would want to jeopardize you or your clients safety when it comes to drunk driving during a normal weekend, how prepared are you for the holiday?

Memorial Day is notorious for checkpoints and increased DUI/ DWI convictions. It is partly due to the increase in recreational drinking, partly due to the increase in people out and about, and partly due to the influx of law enforcement looking to make those arrests.

The last thing you want is for those convictions to come back to your nightclub as being responsible for serving someone too much and then letting them drive.

Being aware of how much a person has to drink is crucial under normal circumstances, but can prove to be even more problematic with a bottle service. You have to monitor how much someone in the party is drinking, when several people are sharing the same bottle.

One way to eliminate the guesswork is by using bottle locks. These locks fit onto any purchased bottle of alcohol. Your private wait staff or host can then monitor whom each glass is being served to.

One of the nice things about bottle locks is that they can be used at a moments notice. If you don’t want to use the bottle locks on a normal weekend where your customer count is down, you don’t have to. They are easy enough to attach onto a bottle as it is leaving the bar without a lengthy delay in service. The perfect addition for high traffic nights, like Memorial Day weekend.

Nightclubs and Safety: Bottle Lock Technology Is A Solution

The nightclub has long been an outlet for people to decompress from their stress of the 9 to 5 grind.  This has fueled a large and profitable industry.  Unfortunately, with this celebration sometimes comes conflict.  Many nightclubs invest substantial funds into CCTV and security staff.  One further step that can be taken is the use of bottle lock technology.

In many states, patrons are not allowed to pour their own spirits.  In other states bottle service means that the customer has unrestricted access to the their quantity of alcohol. Bottle locks have a place in both of thee applications.  For the states that the access to alcohol is restricted, the nightclub can still provide bottle services.  The bottle lock can be used to control the time and level of the pours, by having the server lock and unlock the bottle lock as the bottle service is provided.  In states where unrestricted bottle services are allowed, the bottle locks can be used to display product without concern for it being open without payment.  The nightclub can display the product near or on the table.  This can be done without fear of the bottle caps being removed or opened.  The bottle locks fit directly over the bottle caps and secures your nightclubs profits.  By controlling the bottle caps, the bar can contribute to a safer environment by controlling the amount of alcohol that is consumed by the patron.

The overall impact of bottle services to profits is large, but by controlling the bottle caps with bottle lock technology, the nightclub can have profit and safety.

Save Your Reputation

When I was in college, I had a mix of friends, some of whom were over the age of 21, and some of them under. Word spread quickly which nightclubs and bars were easy for everyone to get served at. You could tell when you walked in that those nightclubs that didn’t care about who was of drinking age were packed with underage drinkers. These clubs had a reputation of allowing minors to drink.

Unfortunately, that word of mouth eventually spread to the local police departments. Undercover stings were set up and after multiple costly fines for their offenses; the nightclubs were forced to shut down. The groups of students would then find a new place that would serve to anyone.

Bottle locks are used by a multitude of liquor stores and retailers to prevent the theft of their alcoholic inventories. These same bottle locks can be used to redeem your club or bars reputation. If you provide a bottle service, incorporate the use of a bottle lock.

A bottle lock is simply a bottle cap with a key lock that is placed over the mouth of a bottle of liquor or wine. In order for a customer to pour a drink, someone with a key has to unlock the bottle cap first.

Using a locking bottle cap is a quick fix to preventing unauthorized underage drinking in your establishment. Minors can’t drink under the radar. A member of your staff has to be aware of who and what is going on in a party. This gives them a chance to see who is drinking, validate that they are of age, and make sure that only adults over 21 are given access to the alcohol.

In The Club And Underage

Some nightclubs and bars allow teenagers over the age of 18 into their clubs. They may not be able to drink, but they can dance the night away along side the over 21 crowd. It can lead to a tricky situation if the nightclub is not careful.

Any restaurant, bar or club that allows under 21s into their establishment needs to be aware of the risk of under age drinking. I remember an instance when I was working as a bartender many years ago. We let minors play at our poker nights in the bar.

There was a minor who came up to the bar to order a shot of Jack Daniels. I guess he thought that no one would check his ID with everything else going on. I refused him his shot and he went back to his table. A few minutes later, another customer, at his table, came up and ordered a shot of Jack Daniels.

While I could not refuse her service, I did make it clear that if she gave the shot to the minor that we would call the police. She was adamant that it was for her. Sure enough a few moments later we caught her pouring the shot into the minor’s glass. They were both escorted off the premises and not allowed to return.

When it comes to drinking, some people will go to any extent to get what they want. That ordeal was over one shot; imagine the lengths someone or a group of people will go to over sharing an entire bottle. Protect your self and your bottle services by implementing the use of bottle locks to prevent underage drinking.

They Are Here For The Party

I grew up in a small town in the middle of the country, less than 45,000 people. The crazy thing was that we were the “big city” that the rest of the rural farm kids came to town on the weekends to see. There wasn’t much to offer so I left as soon as I could and have lived in major metropolitan areas ever since.

Swanky nightclubs and VIP bottle services were things I had only seen glorified in the movies and on TV. I didn’t even realize that they were actually out there for people to partake in. Of course that was many years ago, and now it seems like every nightclub is offering bottle services to their clients, VIP or not.

Even in my small little town, the local nightclubs now offer a bottle service upon request. I know that there are plenty of party going adults who want to spend their money on this service. It makes them feel special, like they are part of the bigger world out there.

The more rural nightblubs may not have all the swank and prestige of a big city club, but they do know how to keep themselves protected. They routinely use bottle locks on their bottles to help control the pace of the service. It keeps the clubs out of potential trouble and give the customers their own version of being a VIP, even if it is just for one night.

How Many Are In Your Party?

One of the easiest ways to make bottle services worth your while is to create a limit on how many bottles are allowed to be shared per group. Whether you decide that there must be one bottle for every three people or one for every four, you are setting the tone.

Maybe you allow five people to drink from each bottle, but you have a two bottle minimum purchase for each bottle service. The choice is yours. The more people in a group you allow to drink from each bottle served, the bigger risk you take. If everyone is drinking, the bottle services may pay off as the group continues to order more and more bottles.

Most nightclubs see a different result. One or two people in the group do the majority of drinking, often pushing the legal limits, while the rest of the group sits by and watches, maybe only having one glass. They run your staff ragged for little pay off in the end.

Having minimums make it worthwhile for your wait staff, as gratuities are often added in automatically. The more people in a group, the more bottles are to be ordered, raising the dollars spent. The more money that is spent, the bigger the tip will be for your dedicated staff.

Before you take that next reservation for a bottle service in your nightclub. Stop and ask how many are in their party. Explain your minimum purchase policy and watch your profits take off.

The Tools You Can Use

How do you control the flow of your alcohol? When it is behind the counter, it is pretty easy. Your bar and wait staff can keep an eye on who is ordering drinks, as well as how many are ordered at a given time.

Since you want your nightclub to be profitable, I would assume that you have a standard practice set up for how your shots are measured for each drink. Weather you use a jigger or a self-regulating spout, there is consistency in the strength of each drink that is poured.

Many years ago when I worked as a bartender, we used a three-count pour. I remember the countless hours the nightclub owner put into inventorying the bottles. She would even go through and mark them with a permanent marker to show the level the bottle started with at the beginning of the night.

I think she failed to realize that her inventory was generally off because she did not invest in the right tools. A measuring device for the liquor and an accurate register that tallied the individual types of shots poured would have done her wonders.

Utilizing the right tools, like bottle caps that have a stopper on them or even a bottle lock makes a significant difference. Even when your nightclub caters to a bottle service, a bottle lock can be a savior. You can control the quantity that each VIP consumes. You can increase your business by making sure bottles are shared with consistent pours. Now when someone needs another drink, they will be ready to buy another bottle so everyone can have their equal share.

When It All Starts to Trickle Down

Providing a bottle service in your nightclub is almost a necessity to stay competitive in the business. From celebrities and socialites to stockbrokers and accountants, even the average Joe off the street is looking for a chance to feel special and important when they hit the town. A huge variety of people are willing to pay a high price to have that kind of treatment.

For some, the VIP treatment is a way of life. A growing number of customers are looking for that prestige even if it is just for one night out of their lives. As a nightclub owner, preparing your staff for this sort of trickle down to the masses needs a fresh approach.

Not every group of customers wanting a bottle service is necessarily high-end clients. You and your staff can’t rely on some secure chauffeured limousine to be driving them back to the safety of their homes at night’s end. You need your staff to be vigilant to the amount of alcohol your bottle service tables are imbibing.

By utilizing bottle locks on your bottles, you can effectively be the ones to control the flow of your alcohol. Each pour requires your attentive staff to take charge of mixing the night’s drinks. This small step alleviates the guesswork out of how many drinks each person has had in addition to how strong are the drinks.

Bottle locks may just save you the hassle of a negligence lawsuit and keep your customers safe, wherever they come from.
